In cPanel you can manage your FTP, Email, and, Web Disk users using a single interface. You can merge accounts(email, FTP, and Web Disk) into a single Sub-account add new users, edit existing users, link existing users, and delete them using the User Manager in cPanel. This interface does not allow you to create new cPanel accounts, you need a Reseller package or server administrator privilege for this.
Add Sub-account
In order to manage Sub-accounts in User Manager follow the instructions below:
- Login to cPanel-> Preferences-> User Manager.
- Click on Add User.
- Enter the user information for the new Sub-account(Full Name, Username, Domain, Contact Email Address. )Please note the system sends account notifications and password reset confirmations to this email address.
You can either let the system set the password for you by choosingThe user will set the account password or manually setup the password by choosing Set the user's password. - Click on Create to finish, or Create and Add Another User to add another account
- Go to Services and enable what is required.
Sub-account Services
You will be prompted by the system to either link or cancel a new account during creation if the Sub-account username tallies with an existing Email/FTP/Web Disk username
To link the account with the Sub-account, follow these steps:
- Click on Link, the existing Email/FTP/Web Disk account will be automatically attached to the Sub-account
- Click on Dismissif you do not wish to link the account with the Sub-account
Email service allows you to enable the Sub-account's email address, for example, username@testing.com
- The Quota optiondefines how much hard drive space the Sub-account may use to store emails.
FTP service allows you to manage your website's files, for example, username@testing.comFTP account.
- The Quota optiondefines how much space the Sub-account user may use in their home directory.
- The Home Directoryallows you to specify the Sub-account's FTP home directory.
- The Web Disk utilityallows you to manage and manipulate files on your server using multiple devices
- The Home Directoryallows you to change the Sub-account's Web Disk home directory.
- Permissionsallow you to specify the Sub-account's home directory permissions:
- Read-Write— This setting allows the Sub-account access to read, download, list and write files inside the directory.
- Read-Only— This setting allows the Sub-account access to read, download and list the files inside the directory.
If you use these Windows versions (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10), you must enable Digest Authentication in order to access Web Disk over a clear text, unencrypted connection. if the domain uses a signed SSL certificate, then you need not enable Digest Authentication
How to Login to Sub-account
You can easily log in to your Sub-account's email and FTP using the credentials which you have entered while creating a user. The user will set the account password when you created the Sub-account, follow the steps in this guide to set their password.
After you create a Sub-account, you can use several methods(webmail, FTP, web disk) to access it:
- Login to webmail:
- To login to the webmail of the Sub-account, enter the URL as domainname:2096 or s585.lon6.mysecurecloudhost.com:2096, this directs you to your webmail login page.
- Now Enter the Sub-account username and password.
- Login to FTP:
- Download a FTP client like FilezZilla
- Open FileZilla or any other FTP client.
- Go to File and then Site Manager.
- Click New Site and enter the credentials as:
Host: IP Address of your cPanel account/server.
Port: Leave blank or use default port 21.
User: Enter the Sub-account username with the domain name(username@domainname)
Password: Sub-account password

How to Edit Sub-account
Follow these steps to Edit a Sub-account
- Click the Edit option underneath the User you choose
- Manage the following Sub-account properties within this section:
Full name — First and last name of the Sub-account user
Contact Email Address— A different email address for the Sub-account's user
Security Information — Change Password
Email, FTP and Web Disk — The Sub-account's access to email, FTP, and Web Disk services
How to Delete Sub-account
Click on Delete and then verify that you wish to delete the account. Deleting a Sub-account removes all of the Sub-account's services.
